WV station for sale

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

I'm just kidding, that's a great area down there.

Walgreens is opening soon. Does that count? (Of course, it's been opening soon for several months.)

here is a cityguide site that list over 500 business for Graftan: http://grafton.wv.cityguidesite.com/

By the way it is available for $24.95 per month. This is the type of city guide sites that I own and sell advertising on.

Steve needs to log in and update his radio station on the free bronze ad.

Warm water for shaving was nice... when the field heater worked. :-)
By that do you mean the MRE heater, which directs you to "lean (it, I'm assuming) against a rock or something"

Those things were surprisingly efficient.
Didn't take long to bring a garbage can full of water to a rolling boil.

What do you think, Tom, will it work? Real Rock For Grafton People?

Uh, it's already happened. From 1975, although I don't think Conrad would have used the word seminal:
"You're listening in with John Conrad on WVVW AM Grafton. Next up, from Yes' seminal progressive album "Fragile'..."

I was listening to Fragile this morning. I sure miss the prog rock era.

$65k, a new pickup truck and a little more to boot. Who amoung us doesn't have a fantasy of buying a little station like that, to become our own personal stereo and bullhorn? Make a living with no boss, playing only the best music. Ha ha. What a beautiful dream.

If only it wasn't in Grafton. That seems like a remote wilderness to me. Of course my local wildserness is not much better, and may be even worse.

Helllll -o. Just decided to pop in - again - from beauuuuutiful downtown Hopewell, VA.

Yes, the studios can be moved -correct me if I'm wrong (and I know you will) @ 50 miles as the crow flies. The license has to stay Grafton...

The price is down to $59,900, and assume tx lease. However - here's an aside - we just found out from Nat'l City the payoff on the stupid thing is around 20K less than the life of the lease. I want to shoot myself.

We go black on New Year's at midnight if it doesn't sell... We have had a lot of tire kickers recently... a few even sound serious, especially the ones who are chagrined that Grafton may lose another "landmark" business. (Operative word here is SOUND) You know what's scary - for me, that is? I really feel depressed about it.

It's been a ride and a half, folks... so is the trip to Grafton every week or so over 250 from Richmond. Hum-m-m-m... I just got myself un-depressed.

Ugh. That has to be the worst way across. Makes 33 look like a superhighway.
Aircheck? You'd make a great board op.

33 is great unless you get behind the plethora of school buses, coal trucks, garbage trucks, tractor trailers, plain ole tractors, and of course, the typical West Virginia driver. That's why I take 250 -- most of the above mentioned are on 33.

I suppose the new owners would have to adjust the format as Citadel/ABC's Timeless 24/7 format will be going off the air in Feb. I can think of at least a half dozen stations that use this satellite format in the region. Many of which are very close to a Dial Global America's Best Music affiliate. Looks like there will be some computer hard drives loading up with soft a/c tunes, or some format changes at most of these smaller AM stations.

Yes, I saw the news story on WBOY. How about we all chip in a $1,000 each - then take one day every two months and program it the way each of us would program "the radio station in our head."

That takes care of buying the station and I assume the day you program the station that you are the one at the station all day to run it for free labor but how do you propose to come up with over $2000 a month to pay the transmitter lease, electric, phone, any other utilities, the music license fees, repairs, someone to keep the field mowed (weed eater because some of the terrain at the transmitter site), taxes. Who is going to be chief operator with personnel changing every day (some LP 1 and 2 stations chief operators are not doing there jobs to well already when they go for a couple weeks with out sending any test at all--you know the Chief Operator log that you sign confirming all the EAS stuff has been done and is to be checked weekly  )? Who is going to see that the public file is kept up and in place on time every quarter?
Remember no convicted felons can be in the group (rules out most NFL players :x ). Don't forget you will also be part of the owners report.
