NPR gages presidential race in Logan, W. Va.

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

I beg to differ. She was a rather well respected pundit on CNBC and held her own quite well in a few debates including some with Robert Reich. The "dumber than a rock" thing is more lack of experience in a national arena in which the media eats most of its own. Green politicians are simply fodder to feed the machine

Yes, and these puppet masters are the type to think that ratchet and socket wrench can take the place of a hammer in removing a brake drum. Wait. Bad analogy. GOP Pupper masters do not have farm boy logic which is the complete issue with the republicans this season.

I will give you a "Hell Yea" followed by MILF. Yes, I saw Palin in Philly a while back during the weekend of debate preparation and the TV cameras do not do this beauty queen justice.

There you go. That's why she was chosen, instead of a dozen other much more qualified and ready-to-lead GOP loyalists.

In an act of desperation to save McCain's failing campaign, Karl Rove and his understudies write another chapter in the "President Maker" playbook: Let's go after the 'Perky Titties and Tight Ass equal the Stiff Dick' vote.

Hey, it worked for TV news anchors.

Following that notion, I'll try not to imagine who they expect Joe Biden to appeal to. Ich!

By the way, better check www.democratichatemachine.com/enemieslist/rathruro ; Rove isn't in this scrap. Keep your devils straight, please.

Whoa! Fighting people like me? Dude. I'm a college educated, hard working, home owning, tax paying, productive member of American society working two jobs; trying to take care of my family and raise my kids to be honest, decent, hardworking, productive adults. I'm involved in my community to a significant extent and have a number of good friends, hobbies, and interests outside the workplace that keep me busy. Why would Sarah Palin fight people like me?

What does Obama have that Palin doesn't?
Intelligence.
Vision.
Direction.
A knowledge of history.
Familiarity with National and International politics.
The ability to form a complete and gramatically correct sentence.

Do I need to keep going?

I believe in the citizen-representative. I don't believe in the Rockefellerish ruling class ... I like people who become politicians AFTER they've done something else with their lives, rather than people who have come out of undergraduate school with a burning desire to rule.
I agree in principle, but I always felt my elected officials should have a certain intelligence, a air of dignity, the ability to make good judgment based on a variety of information and knowledge, and someone who didn't use the office and power to exercise personal vendattas. Sarah Palin meets NONE of that criteria, and neither did George Bush.

The "hey, I'd like to drink a beer with that guy" notion on electing a national leader in these times is just bullshit.

The people that like Palin fall in to two categories: Hard core right wing voters who automatically support the GOP candidates regardless of who they are or what they stand for, and guys who think she's hot and want to bang her.

I'll pass on the rest of your comments, but I'm glad you describe yourself the way you do, because I believe the same. But, when I say in this case people like you I mean specifically people who feel that toeing the Democratic party line/talking points is more useful than examining the facts for yourself. Look at the things you wrote just now about Palin. Apply that to Joe Biden, and see how it comes out. Try again to tell yourself that Obama having advisors makes him a foreign policy wonk of some kind. It's all too silly. Don't let the image SNL builds up in your mind obfuscate the facts. What we need in a President (or VP) is judgement, intelligence, faith, backbone. I like Palin for those better than I like Obama, who may or may not believe as he represents himself. I sure like Palin on those qualities better than I like Joe Biden, for petesake. Keep yelling that Palin is a silly girl, you just make people like me more angry.

But the hell with it all. I say, Huckabee '12.

The disaster started shortly after January 20, 2001. Obama's got a lot of work ahead of him, but I'm confident he'll leave office in 2016 with our country in much better shape than when he took office. We'll talk about Huck in 2015 ...

Any tax increase I receive will be because of the Wall Street corporate bailout (you know, letting the free market run things like it should) and because I'll be paying for the Iraq War. Neither happened on Obama's watch, but he'll be charged with cleaning up the mess.

Checkmate.

JB, you gotta ignore HD...he's just baiting you into wasting your time. He, like all leftist operatives, has been trained over the last years to combine the "make up 'Big Lie'-ish euphemisms" strategy of George Lackhoff with the "kill the enemies of communism...physically, if you have to, but try character, reputation, livelihood, and business first" tactics of Saul Olinsky.

An easy application of that is "put the truth on the defense by lying about the truth." The left's belief is that, once the lie has been introduced, the truth must always play "catch up," forever trying just to get back to "zero." And it works -- or can, at the least -- because truth actually cares about the truth while the left has no such concern. So, if you watch what HD does, you'll see him do not only the usual "deflect, then distract by changing the subject" thing but also be sure to introduce a new lie and/or add an "attack the attacker" that is a lie such that his opponent, he believes, is angered and placed on defense. All subsequent posts from him will follow the same pattern, provoking more outrage and advancing a new or expanded lie rather than addressing the actual substance of what you replied.

As tough as it might seem, ignore what he's saying (he's ignoring the real substance of what you're saying) if it puts you in "catch up" mode and just tell the truth. If you really want to play his game, then play his game...but, of course, with the truth, not a manufactured lie. Stoke his emotion, include an overt or implied attack on him, and maintain forward momentum.
Hoosier Daddy wrote:...and raise my kids to be honest, decent, hardworking, productive adults.

No man can reproduce what he does not possess, and no leftist is honest, decent, hard-working, or productive for society. Because you are training your children to lie, be dependent, and create other dependents, what you claim to want will be impossible for you realize.
What does Obama have that Palin doesn't?

Intelligence.
Oh, gosh, no. I'm sure there's some Ivy League, pseudo-intellectual term for it (God help us if they, themselves, think it's real), but Obama has learned what we in English composition class back in school called "verbal BS" and "factual BS." A combination of high-falutin' vocabulary and the occasional factoid, it absolutely fools the unintelligent (even though possibly very edumacated) every time...it's no surprise that you, too, have been suckered.
Vision.
"Introduce communism via euphemism in the midst of manufactured crisis" is not "vision." Communism is a violation of the design of man and, thus, ultimately fails every time no matter who does it. Even those who practice it know it will ultimately fail but work to delay it with barriers, restrictions, and murder.
Direction.
The left has none....except "to the left." There are no principles on the left, so no direction but "power and rewards for the anointed and their anointed" is even possible.
A knowledge of history.
Largely irrelevant, I think. Given that we have no idea if what history we read is true, knowing what is likely horribly inaccurate (at best) is unnecessary. Knowing math, science, logic, and the present is much, much more preferable.
Familiarity with National and International politics.
I was about to disagree but noticed you specified "politics." "Politics" often have not a thing to do with reality and the truth, so you might be right.
The ability to form a complete and gramatically correct sentence.
Palin rocks...it's Obama I've heard make umpteen mistakes (run-on sentences are inevitably killers, especially for those who've been edumacated beyond their intelligence). Besides, "uh.................," "eh........," "aaaaaaaaaannnnnnd," and "umm..............." cannot be considered as real words in "complete and grammatically-correct sentences." (Please note that you made two mistakes in your claim to want that...it's yet another attribute you claim to want but will find impossible to find.)
I agree in principle, but I always felt my elected officials should have a certain intelligence, a air of dignity, the ability to make good judgment based on a variety of information and knowledge, and someone who didn't use the office and power to exercise personal vendattas.
 Naw....we know you're a lefty! There's not a single Democrat about whom you can honestly make that statement!

And you know it!

That....is checkmate.

There you go, JB!

I heard Boortz comment earlier today that Obama being where he is today is a direct result of republicans losing their principles and vision they brought with them in 94.

I have to agree.

I don't know how any of you can respect a party that has been in power for so many years, only to toss their ideas, and their supporters who got them elected, by the wayside and become just as corrupt as the democrat establishment that was there for 40 years, in much less time.

This is a party who blatantly used evangelicals to get them elected by throwing them a few anti-gay, anti-abortion bones, only to ignore their interests in favor of their Wall Street and neocon buddies. Some even went so far to suggest that W. was "appointed by God" to be president in these trying times...

Eventually, they felt used, Dobson got pissed, and the Huckabee phenomonen was born. It exposed a rift in the party, and it's still there. And, generally speaking, they still hate McCain. But they hate Obama even worse because he's pro-choice, supports gay marriage, and is allegedly a closet communist.

This is a party with a "conservative" president who outspent in spades the much demonized, democrat-controlled congress from the Reagan era to effectively put us into national debt oblivion. At this point, nobody reading these words will live long enough to see it paid off... And probably not your offspring, either.

This is a party who, four years ago, would have you to believe that a exposed boob on TV was as bad as an Al-Queda terrorist attack.

This is a party who appointed an attorney general who wasted taxpayer money covering up Lady Justice's naked boob.

I could go on, but the point is the republicans had their chance, and blew it, big time. They only have themselves to blame.

Plus, they don't like boobs...

When all they can do is throw Marxist/socialist/commie labels at Obama, then that suggests they're out of ideas.

You're out. Regroup. See you in four years...

No, not at all. Just the bellicose dying breath of an egotistical, stuck-in-yesterday mouthpiece of the so called Reagan Revolution. Someone who turns a blind eye to the Conservative Political/Social Experiment that is officially a total abject failure. The country is not only broke but so far in debt my grandchildren will still be paying it off. The middle class has been effectively destroyed for many people, thanks to trickle down economic theories that never worked combined with robust international trade agreements and agressive union busting that not only shipped hundreds of thousands of American jobs overseas but effectively destroyed the workforce infrastructure that was left behind. The only winners were, of course, the CEOs and the major investors. The employees - and the communities they lived in - took it up the ass.

Government isn't smaller and more efficient but the exact opposite. Wall Street crashed and burned, as did the housing market, thanks to a government that simply enabled business profits rather than stabilize the playing field and provide regulatory oversight. Those who screamed loudest for an unregulated free market that would show everybody how great unfettered capitalism was were the first in line for a Corporate Welfare handout from the Feds, their Golden Parachutes firmly strapped to their backs. The Bush administration is probably the most corrupt and secretive group of losers ever entrusted to the White House. Our War for Oil in Iraq rambles on with no end in sight.

And John McCain -- once a moderate, controversial maverick who detested ugly smear campaigns "reinvented" himself halfway through the campaign, dropping his trump card of experience by choosing Sarah "the Dingbat" Palin and suddenly (after 26 years in Washington) became an "agent of change", just like Obama. The icing on the cake was learning McCain hired the same GOP smearmeisters that stomped his dick in the dirt back in 2000 to reinvigorate his failing campaign. Anyone remember the 'slip' leaked by the Bush campaign about McCain's alleged illegitimate child he adopted?

The Democrats are where they are in part because we hit rock bottom. You guys are pitiful. And you're done. The next two weeks will show an increasingly desperate John McCain trying to tear down Barack Obama in any way possible, the GOP legal hucksters trying to throw the election results in several key states ('cause it's the ONLY way they'll have a chance at winning), and the GOP Hate Machine gearing up for four years of beating Obama up on anything they can find, as if there should be a substantial punishment inflicted on someone who tries to clean up their mess. It'll be a hell of a show.

You had your turn and you failed miserably. Good riddance, boys.

Checkmate, Arp. I'm done on this.
