If you were a 16 year old and your buddy's parents said, "Hey dude, we're having a party tonight and my parent's are supplying the booze!" What would you do? Would you go run and tell everyone what's going down or keep your mouth shut and enjoy yourself?

I wouldn't "run and tell everyone", even if I chose not to attend, or to stop by, say hello, not drink anything alcoholic, but just spend the evening having a good time with my friends.

I don't think most kids are mature enough to get drunk and then take care of themselves in the myriad of ugly situations that can happen. Parents are supposed to be parents and not their kid's "cool best friend". That's why so many young adults are so fucked up. No one ever gave them rules to follow and then backed those rules up with some loving enforcement.

Parents Who Host Lose The Most. Or so the TV commercial says. Providing alcohol to minors is against the law. Period. I don't feel sorry for the stupid assed parents here who got busted. They are old enough to know better.

There's certain people in this business that do pot. Last I heard that's illegal too. But I'm not going to go and tell everyone about it. It's their business.

I know a number of decent, upstanding, productive-in-society adults who smoke pot on a recreational basis. I don't judge them -- and, you're right, it IS their choice. Smoking or possessing marijuana is also against the law. All the players know what happens if you get caught, and if you do, there's no one to blame but yourself, right?

Consenting adults? Conscious decision?

If the law is no good, then change the law. But until the law is changed or ruled unconstitutional, it's still the law.

It seems to me that there shouldn't be arbitrary age limits on freedoms for adults. In my opinion, if you're an adult, you should have all the freedoms that come with that status.

Hey, the legal age is 18 over there. Most kids start drinking 'alcopops' (as the red tops are wont to call them) way before, but that certainly doesn't make it any less illegal. What the fundamental fact here is that this silly cow knew she was breaking the law and just hoped nobody would find out. I might have a little more sympathy if she had the permission of the parents to let them drink; if she had spelled out the safety procedures to the other parents of the kids and let them say yay or nay and THEN got busted... as it stands, the "b-b-but I'm innocent. I made sure nobody knew I was committing a crime" doesn't wash. If it did, you better bet I'd be in Circuit City this very afternoon, making sure nobody saw me walking out with a big-ass TV under my t-shirt.
