Station mascots-radio or TV

I was inspired to write this after seeing TV station mascots mentioned on another board...which stations in West Virginia, if any, used station mascots? If any did, how long was their run?

WELK-FM, Elkins WV. Honk the Weather Goose. To my knowledge "he" was there the entire time Dick McGraw was hosting mornings. (Honk was a horn he would use to interact with. There was also a costume. I cannot confirm or deny if it was hot, smelled musty, and was held together with duct tape.)

V100 Charleston used to have the Chocolate Moose costume for remotes. I think WQBE Charleston sill uses the 24 Carrot Rabbit.

Back in the 90's Super 102 had a wild, hairy, bizarre mascot.
We called it Larry Shockley.

When I interned at WV Radio in Summer 2005, 96.1 The Wolf had Wolfie, a wolf (what else?) and KAZ-107 had Be-Bop, a dog. Both costumes were new at the time and in good condition. I think it was the station manager's (or some other bigwig's) daughter or grand-daughter who named the dog.

The Dawg, 93.7 FM, has "Spike" an inflatable bulldog and "Spike, Jr." a costumed bulldog.

No other stations (five) in our group has mascots.

WWVU-FM has used a moose since they signed on in '83. I don't know if it ever had a name.

I am happy to say that one of the first things I did in radio was to serve as the WLOG Better Music Dancing Bear. We bought the costume used in 1988 from the WV Lottery. Both the bear and WLOG gave been dead for years.

When WTCR (AM only at the time) changed its city of license so we could have a nighttime directional signal, we had an owl mascot at remotes and at Marshall football tailgates. Inside the costume was Kim York-Blake, who is now a veteran sales exec at Clear Channel!
