CHIEF LOGAN STATE PARK — The History Channel’s reality show “American Pickers” was in Mingo County Thursday and Friday doing what they are famous for — pickin’.

But when it came time for some rest and refreshments before going to their next location, the entire filming crew stopped in Chief Logan State Park for several hours.

Although the group did not enter the museum, they did park nearby.

“They were doing a little bit of filming,” Museum in the Park director Elizabeth Williams said. “I think some basic voiceovers and things for broadcast.”

Williams said the pickers had been looking for items pertaining to the Hatfield-McCoy feud.

“Evidently they were looking in this area for items related to the Hatfield and McCoy families,” Williams said. “Some think they found some things that were really good. I don’t know any specifics; they won’t give that information out until broadcast.”

Williams said the traveling group’s attempt at anonymity by covering up the famous Antique Archeology logo failed.

“They didn’t want anyone to know they were here,” Williams said. “The problem was that other people saw them…”
