ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF NEWS AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS,

CHARLESTON, WV

West Virginia Public Broadcasting has an immediate opening for an experienced journalist with story-telling ability and a background in broadcast news.

Duties and Qualifications: This television, radio and Internet supervisory position will have the opportunity to work behind the microphone and in front of the camera. This position requires excellent writing and editing skills as well as a high level of proficiency in reporting, interviewing, electronic newsgathering and use of social media. Must be familiar with AP style and “sound rich” NPR-style reporting. The Assistant Director assists in providing statewide oversight to our producers and reporters. Other duties and responsibilities to be determined by the News Director and as situations warrant.

Bachelor’s Degree and at least five years paid experience required. Master’s Degree desirable.
