America is at that awkward stage.
It is too late to work within the system,
but too early to shoot the bastards.

Legendary station of the year = WQZK? Good grief, I'm old.
Aircheck? You'd make a great board op.

Re: WVBA Awards
Do you have to be a member to enter or is there an entry fee?

Re: WVBA Awards
I forget the specifics, Bartholomew...but I do recall that stations were allowed the first few entries free, then a nominal charge for additionals..I think membership is a prerequisite. According to Michelle Crist, this was the best year ever for entries.
No WVMH entries...

No Beckley, as far as I can tell, either.

Ok, BM...no hit and run dismissals.
Please expound on your statement?

Re: WVBA Awards
WV media is not allowed in WVBA awards because of the statewide resources. A friend of mine who works at WTRF told me that the owner got in an argument with WVBA over this so they don't even bother with it.

Re: WVBA Awards
That sounds off, at least at first blush...WV Radio has virtually the same situation. It doesn't stop them, nor does it stop other, smaller stations from competing.

Re: WVBA Awards
Couldn't each individual station just enter newscasts that contain material solely from that station? Basically everything but WV Tonight Live, right?CRWturtle wrote:WV media is not allowed in WVBA awards because of the statewide resources. Guess it's like the WVBroadcasting.net awards. The only people who care who wins or loses and the people in the business.

True enough, but that's the only thing I'd care about. Peer respect is of more worth to me than what anyone outside the business thinks.Big Media wrote:Guess it's like the WVBroadcasting.net awards. The only people who care who wins or loses and the people in the business.
