Another Charleston hospital incident

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Another Charleston hospital incident

Post by genlock »

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- He was wearing a lab coat and stethoscope, but a man making his rounds at Thomas Hospital had no authority to be there.

South Charleston Police were called after hospital staffed noticed a suspicious man walking around the facility.

When officers arrived, they spotted Stephen Mahnken walking out of a patent's room. They noticed he was carrying a clipboard with what appeared to be two animal X-rays.

According to a criminal complaint, Mahnken told officers he was a physician's assistant and a veterinarian. Officers were able to confirm that Mahnken was not a physician's assistant and that the clipboard had been stolen from the emergency room.

Police say when Mahnken entered one of the rooms, the patient was asleep at the time. Officers asked the patient to remove his bed sheet. They found that cotton balls had been placed on patent's thighs and crotch.

You left out the best part:

He's been released on bond.

Now... here's a classic case of some nut running around on the streets just like you and me. His actions are SO bizarre that he should have been taken somewhere for evaluation... but no.

I once spoke to a Best Access tech. He told me that he can go just about anywhere he wants to go (restricted areas, stock rooms, etc)as long as he has his name badge showing.

If you look "official" and you present yourself as if you know exactly what you are doing, no one will ever question you.
