The Chilean miners: "Live" or Memorex on PBS?

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

The Chilean miners: "Live" or Memorex on PBS?

Post by CoolBreeze »

I've been watching the rescue this morning two ways: "Live" on the internet (BBC website) in real time and "Live" on WV Public Broadcasting. The problem is that the Public Broadcasting is not live at all, but exactly 1 hour behind. There is no indication on the TV screen that this is in fact NOT live, but one hour behind. It even says "LIVE" on the screen, so people watching may not know better.

I know that is common to use re-use footage with "Live" on the screen, but there's usually a disclaimer somewhere that it's in fact taped or delayed, to let the viewer know that it's actually not in real time. That should be the case here... but isnt.

I would say the only mistake is in thinking Public Broadcasting would be telling the truth in the first place...
