The second I heard this story the other day I thought "something's not right here".
Background:
September 30: a man and his wife on jet skis were shot at by Mexican pirates on Lake Falcon, which is located on the Texas/Mexico border from Zapata, TX across the Rio Grande to Old Guerrero on the Mexican side. The man apparently was shot in the head and as his wife attempted to aid him she was also shot at which resulted in her fleeing for her life believing that her husband is dead.
The wife, this Jodie Foster look-alike, claims that she was looking down the barrel of the Pirates gun. She says they were within 10 feet of her and yet she couldnt describe them.
( Black hair.. dark skin...mustaches? )
She claims that during this time, she attempted to pull her husbands large body onto her Jet Ski but then decided to get the hell out of there. She doesn't know why the Pirates didn't shoot her also, thereby removing any witnesses to the crime. The husband was wearing a life jacket.
Every time I see this woman's face, I cant help but to see Jodie Foster as some type of killer in a movie.

1. Why were they hanging around the Mexican border jet-skiing? It's notoriously dangerous to be anywhere near there these days.
2. With the drug war raging out of control, the Mexican government is not going to care about solving this. Greater likelihood of getting away with it if it happened on the Mexican side (It did).
3. Why would the gangs shoot her husband and not her? She claims they pulled up beside her and she begged them not to shoot. They turned around and left her there with her dead husband's body. Why would they not kill the only eyewitness to this crime as well if they had the chance?
AUSTIN, Texas — The severed head of a Mexican investigator looking into the disappearance of an American has been delivered to authorities in Mexico, the sheriff on the Texas side of the border told NBC News on Tuesday.
A spokesman for the prosecutor's office in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas confirmed that Commander Rolando Flores, the head of state investigators in the border city of Ciudad Miguel Aleman, had been killed.
Flores was investigating the disappearance of Hartley, but the prosecutor's spokesman said the death was unrelated.
