I'm having a flashback to my younger years this morning.
Do you recall the West Virginia song that WCHS AM used as part of it's sign off many years ago? I don't remember the year for certain, but it was likely the late 1950s or early 1960s. What was that song?

Name of the song was, "The West Virginia Hills". Joe Farris was the Program Director, who choose it. WCHS Radio used to sign off at 2:00 AM. I played it many times.

OT. but this is what WIRO used to always sign off with back in it's 1980's iteration:

When a Reds game ran late (past midnight on a west coast trip) they'd play this and sign off immediately after the end of the postgame.
This was the sign on song:

That went on for at least 5-6 years. I remember many a winter morning waiting for WIRO to sign on to see if I had to go to school waiting for 6AM, the warm HUMMMMMMMMMMMMM to start up, then Petula Clark to start singing
Speaking of sign on songs... WLGC 1520 "signs on" when Ronnie Bell's show begins at 7:30 AM with both the Star Spangled Banner and Governor Chandler's UK Senior Night rendition of "My Old Kentucky Home".
