If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

Don't know if Agnello has been replaced but Rick Johnson can't carry that show. He stumbles around eating the time. He just doesn't have the ability or inclination to engage his audience. Agnello would at least try, to a point, have a discussion. Whom would be a good replacement for Agnello? The Huntington market uses ex Mayors. Not sure if ex politicos is a great idea, hard for them to shake a party line, but at least a solution.

I doubt seventeen people total listen to those ex-mayors.

Now that Felinton boy would liven things up, I bet....but he says he has 'retired' from politics and won't discuss anything!

If you are proposing that Mr. Rotten go to Charleston, I think that is a grand idea...those in the Ashland area have been spared from listening to him since WIRO went Fox Sports, or whatever the heck it is...

The way Rotten went on about the proposed Huntington occupation tax this morning he's ready to go....

Taking WIRO away was such a dumbass move. This means that the most affluent area of the Tri-State basically can't pick up WVHU at all. Indeed, when I am home from work I have to listen to Rush OFF HIS WEBSITE, because 800 has zero building penetration in Ashland.

Fox Sports Radio sucks ass too. The Steve Czaban Show was great, but that got taken away around Christmas. The station is terrible. It's obviously being carried because CC says it has to be in this market. If I were GM of the cluster I'd put it on 1600 and forget it, and put 1230 back on the 800 simulcast.

Any inside word? Has Agnello been fired? Listened to the show and it's struggling. Johnson just can't seem to get any momentum fumbles over lame listener surveys and really never engages in any discussion. What would a good talk radio with listener participation format or personality be?

Agnello is gone. What the future will bring to the talk show is anyone's guess. A real talk show allows the callers to be as passionate as the host. That never was, and never will never be allowed to happen on Raese's stations. It was pretty much milk toast all the way so that the sponsors wouldn't be offended. A great way to make money, but a horrible way to run a real local talk show.

Remember, local talk (at least here) can never get away with what a national talk show can. For instance, even though I had the wildest outside the box local talk show in town, I still couldnt use words that Don Imus did on a regular basis right on our own station. He could say it, while I'd better not. It wasn't that I was under any rules whatsoever, I just knew my local audience wouldn't appreciate it. But damned if I didn't stretch the limits!

As of now, Charleston has no local talk.

Why is radio still scared of the little old church ladies and the easily offended?

If I was a sponsor, I would yank my ads for them being too vanilla.

Nothing would be better than having the audience all riled up, then my ad comes on. That's when they are paying attention.

Good talk radio will be provocative at times, by its very nature. It worked for Rush and Stern, for how long?

Even better the audience doesn't want to tune or move away as they miss something dicey! Jerry did have a good show at least I enjoyed it. Any chance the Coolbreeze will waft the airwaves again?

Not even possible. No one would ever give me the opportunity again that the old man did before he died. It was a once in a lifetime shot. It was fun for the most part. When it was no longer fun, I had to leave.
