2010 Census
Just wondered if you have sent back your, 2010 census form, and if you received the nice little present of':
"The American Community Survey."
The American Community Survey is ANOTHER part of the regular 10 question form everyone receives, (this one is 40 some questions for each person in the house) and carry's with it the same fines of up to $5,000.00 for not filling it out. If you have no idea as to what information the Survey is requiring, you can do some research and find out. Yes, I was blessed with this total invasion, for the quest of information on the people who inhabit my home. While I can see where the information MAYBE, be used to find out where money the government, wants to distribute, can be best used. I don't feel that I want them, to be trusted to keep this information about me, and family members, tucked away somewhere, in their safe keeping.
Don't have any idea what the questions ask? Just a few that come to mind... How long does it take you to get to work? At what time do you leave for work? Have you ever had a mental problem? (all paraphrased?)
Does this sort of seem like an invasion, of my privacy? Should I fill it out and send it back?
From what I have found out so far, I am going to be blessed with about 4 months of harassment by phone, visits from census people at all hours of the day, and the possibility, of having to shell out $5,000.00 for not completing. What to do?
AND WHY HAS THIS NOT BEEN IN THE MAIN STREAM MEDIA, IT'S BEEN DISTRIBUTED FOR THE LAST 4 YEARS, TO A RANDOM 10% OF THE PEOPLE?

Re: 2010 Census
Filled out my census, didn't get the other thing.
And ,uh, why didn't you notice this for the last census, or the one before, or before? This isn't new. Maybe that's why it's not news. Though it has been covered on the major networks when the forms first went out months ago.

Re: 2010 Census
I filled out and mailed mine back, and i only had a few questions and nothing real personal. only about 10 questions. I guess you were just either really lucky or you received one from someone else pretending to be the census people ?

So I guess since they're prepping the door-to-door folks, it's a safe bet that I should have gotten mine mailed to me already?

All the mailers should have been received about a month ago.

I can't wait 'til these people are managing health care.

Since you're sure it's the post office, tell them to go ahead and deliver it.

Re: 2010 Census
Well, I got my census form from the US mail.
Of course, they're not run by the government, but then again, neither will health care.

Re: 2010 Census
I only got the ten question form. Hopefully I lucked out this decade.
Ten years ago, I was one of the unlucky percentile who receiver the 40 or 50 question form, asking everything from if I had air conditioning to how many working toilets were in the house.
I always assumed this data was being used to compile statistics. But, what do I know...

Re: 2010 Census
I got one of those extended forms in 1990 and two census workers came to my house and did about three hours of questions on a range of topics.
