Let me know if this is a bad sign for a station talentwise.

Probably is, but...

There's been a few shift changes over at WEGW (107.5 FM Wheeling). "Bones" left recently (don't know why), and he was about the only real local overnight talent that Wheeling radio had (didn't agree with his political views, though).

Now the most recent issue: Eagle has signed on for the new "Sixx Sense" syndicated program (with the Crue's Nikki Sixx and someone else whose name I do not know right now). It's on 7-Midnight. This actually provides a few scheduling conflicts (Rock Line comes on at 11:30 PM Wed.; no word on the status of THAT show being on WEGW that I know of, and "Two for Tuesday", as I heard it right now, is no more, though I could be wrong on the latter). However, the biggest fallout of the new show that it displaces Nick Nash. He's been the nighttime jock for some time now, and though he's still doing Sat. and their Loud & Local program, it's probably a sign that they wanted to phase him out for some reason. Also, on the site, it seems as though "Yank or Crank" (where people voted on a new single to be included in WEGW's playlist) is no longer on the site (which probably was something Nick came up with, so his weeknight departure meant Yank or Crank went with it). He also mentioned on his blog that he would fill in for the Road Show, but don't know when that will ever be. Simply put, I expect Nash to soon be looking for work somewhere.

Not sure who else might be next, but CC in Wheeling hardly has anyone as it is. Bloomquist is the only local talent on WWVA, Dana Kelly is doing both WKWK and WEGW, Chad Tyson is on the Road Show, and...that is about it. Oh, the people on WVKF that I couldn't start to tell you who is there, and Jim Conner (wherever he ever is anymore). Other than that, the rest of the CC Wheeling radio picture is filled with syndicated programming. With WOMP becoming Jack (with WOMP being solely missed here), and WUKL running the usual oldies format syndicated programming, it's hard to find a local voice unless you turn to WKKX (which I don't mind doing, but I want some music, too).

With the rock format, too, and I'll throw this out there since I'm ranting about WEGW, it's sad that we only have WEGW for a rock format outlet. I would kill to get a Modern Rock/Alternative formatted station in the Valley, or maybe make WXDX extend their reach beyond Pittsburgh (and with the new music poll just about gone, we might need WXDX to hear anything new). Now that I think of it, perhaps WOMP should've changed formats to Modern Rock instead of becoming Jack. Would've been good competition for WEGW.
