They have set the gold standard for snow reporting, as they preempted the Today Show for wall-to-wall coverage. As of 1 p.m., they were still going strong, and may possibly go through the rest of the day. Kudos to WTOV General ManagerTim McCoy, Natalie Herbick, Jeff Oeschlein and a bevy of reporters that covered the event from every angle. As to their competition...same old same old. Thanks to Channel 9, they gave news about Tyler County, which is their southernmost county of service. They mentioned at least one news item that Channel 7 chose not to, as they allegedly, according to them, couldn't report all of the cancellations.

I am going to hate losing this station at the end of the month, due to our cable system pulling up stakes, and I doubt if an antenna will receive them, even at the top of a hill. I DO have to give a 'thumbs up' to Vital Communications, as they DID restore service after being down for a couple of days. The power has threatened to go off, but is holding steady at this time, so if we don't get to our church's "Super Bowl Party," we'll still be able to view the "Big Game."
