Switzerland announced plans yesterday to crack down on “suicide tourism”, signalling that it might
close the Dignitas clinic that has helped hundreds of terminally ill people to take their lives.

New River Gorge Bridge, Seneca Rocks, Drunken ATV riding, White water rafting, Hunting in
full camo, N&W dodgem, are all places and ways we could get rich from the depressed rich.
Oxycontin, Crystal Meth, That Putnam County surgeon and many more ways exist to
make money from the government death panels.

The New River Gorge Bridge has been considered "one of the best places to end it all" by one of those crazy suicide sites.

The only reason it doesn't have a lot of jumpers like the Golden Gate is because of its relative seclusion from much of the country. It takes a while for them to get there from other places... Plenty of time to "think it through".

But it does happen. Last year, there were jumpers from Ohio and California, if I recall.

As one of the founders of Bridge Day, I'll never forget the first suicide off the bridge.

It was a doctor from Fayetteville back in 1980.

He had been distraught about his practice, (he was being sued) his home life and his kids, who were always in trouble.

So he parked his car in the middle of the bridge, and took out his little dog, the only friend he had and walked to the rail. He jumped off the bridge with his best friend in his arms.

The Coroner later determined that the doctor hadn't died from impact. He died from multiple dog bites on the way down.
