I am sure many of us remember when the locals only had evening news at 6pm. Are we headed that direction again?

Re: Is NBC Working on a Live at 5 Format?
Dump the 5pm news and do a half hour live at 3pm.
How may weather segments do we get from 5pm to 6:30 pm?
What news we get is re-hashed several times in the hour and a half.
A half hour early news at 3pm would be good.
In the morning, a half hour at 9am might work.
Move MyZ 10pm news to 9pm.
Dump the first half hour of news at 5am, starting instead at 5; 30 or even 6am.

Re: Is NBC Working on a Live at 5 Format?
TV news will soon follow the modern TV show program clock, which goes like this:
Advertise the hell out of what's coming up next at every break.
Program starts.
10 minutes or so before the first commercial break.
Gets you hooked on the story line.
After the first break, spend the first three minutes telling everyone what they just saw before the break.
Then the program continues.
Next commercial break is in 7 minutes.
Start pimping what's coming up next after the current show.
After the second break, spend the first three minutes telling everyone what they just saw before the break.
Then the program continues.
Next commercial break in 5 minutes.
Start really pimping what's coming up next after the current show.
After the third break, spend the first three minutes telling everyone what they just saw before the break.
Then the program continues.
Next commercial break in 3 minutes.
Start really, REALLY pimping what's coming up next after the current show.
After the fourth break, spend the first three minutes telling everyone what they just saw before the break.
Conclusion of program.
Voiceover guy starts really, REALLY, REALLY pimping what's coming up next.
Talking over the credits and theme music and whatnot.
Then a fifth commercial break, where they'll promote the next two hours of programming,
including what's coming up next.
The whole half-hour will have the network or station logo watermark in the lower right screen area,
just in case you forgot what channel you were watching.
Short-short-short-short-short attention span television, no doubt designed by a CONsultant.

Very good points but I see no need for a 3 PM news cast either.

In a hastily-developed response, WTRF is now working on a "Dead at 5, 6 & 11" format.
