I attended the Charleston Tea Party in protest against government spending yesterday. As expected, the media, (pretty much across the board) reduced the size of the crowd by half. The Charleston Daily Mail for instance placed the crowd at "several hundred". Fact is that there were over 700 people, and probably more by at least a hundred before it was over. Now, that may not sound like much, but this is West Virginia, and you cant get more than 10 people to protest anything here unless you offer an all-you-can-eat buffet. Add really crappy weather on a workday and you can see that this 800 probably represents 8000.

How do I know there was at least 700 people there? Simple: I took a panoramic photo of the crowd, brought it home, blew it up, and counted every single head in the photo. I color coded each person in groups of 100. I arrived at 7 colors at just over 700 at 12:10pm.

This may not seem to be a big deal, but I'm sure most radio stations simply repeated what they read in the Press, and would therefore be just as wrong as they were. When West Virginians protest anything, let's give them their due, because you don't see this very often around here (unless it involves a Union).

I realize that once a crowd gets so big, you pretty much have to guesstimate. But when it's well under 1000, you should be able to do better than to guess less than half the number that's actually there.

No. I wanted an accurate count because as a lifelong West Virginian, I know that "our people" never get involved in protests of any kind... even when they should. That's why they've been run-over all their lives. It's their own fault. In California and many other states, you can organize a protest at the drop of a hat and have 5000 people show up overnight. But WV is different: Only Union people seem to be able to do this, while everyone else sits back and watches football and then complains about it the next day after seeing it in the paper. Yea... we're famous for our TALK and not our WALK.

So when I see that many West Virginians FINALLY get involved with a protest, I want an accurate count. And don't think for one minute that the State didn't notice, because they KNOW West Virginians are by definition... sheep.

I'm not like these idiots who belong to a Party just because they're the lesser of two evils. I, and many people like me decided that the Republicans did not reflect my views whatsoever. But the Democrats were even worse. Oh sure, the Democrats are compassionate, as long as they can steal my money to be compassionate with. Fact is that as long as we have only a two party system, we're in big trouble, especially at this point. In the protests all over America on the 15th, you saw "Republicans Suck" signs along with "Democrats Suck" signs.

Why didn't we complain when Bush was spending like a drunkin sailor? WE DID! ALMOST EVERY DAY ON MY SHOW, and national shows also. When I turned-on Bush right on the air, I had a LOT of listeners upset, but I don't pander. Never have .. never will. Add the complete nonsense of Obama's spending to the dumbass Bush spending, and that's all it took to FINALLY get these people to wake up. We can deal with ONE dambass at a time, but two dumbasses in a row is just too much.
