Passover coke available

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Passover coke available

Post by genlock »

Though Passover does not start until sunset on Wednesday, April 8, "Passover Coke" is currently for sale in local stores.

Only available in two liter bottles, Passover Coke is made with REAL sugar and not the cheaper American alternative, high fructose corn syrup. The bottles are distinguished by their bright yellow caps and have the symbol "OU-P" written on top.

Most of the world uses real sugar in their sodas, and it's much yummier and doesn't last 800 years on a shelf so you don't feel as guilty drinking it.

But once Passover is over, you can usually find similar concoctions in Mexican groceries (or even a Costco or two), because they like to maintain the high quality of their sodas.

I'm showing my ignorance here (which isn't anything new), but what does the symbol "OU-P" stand for?

Is this potentially awesome confection available anywhere in the Tri-State area?

I know "real" Dr. Pepper (also called "Plano Dr. Pepper) is absolutely AWESOME. They use real imperial cane sugar.

As I understand it, "Passover Coke" is the same concoction
as the stuff that used to be in the small coke bottles.
Plus or minus carbonation changes locally.

I'm a strictly diet soda guy, but I'm glad that they have sugar Coca-Cola instead of that high fructose corn syrup laden stuff for at least part of the year...

I'm not sure if the Coca-Cola in this picture is of the sugar or the high fructose corn syrup variety...
