WDTV------Channel 5

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

WDTV------Channel 5

Post by Kitesgot »

Sorry this is in all caps...it's just the way it was when I found it.

WITHERS HAS ACQUIRED THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT, AND IS PREPARED TO 'FLASH CUT' FROM ANALOG TO DIGITAL OPERATIONS ON CHANNEL 5 IN FEBRUARY, 2009, SUBJECT TO MAKING EQUIPMENT ADJUSTMENTS.

WITHERS CURRENTLY OPERATES A TRANSITION LOW POWER DTV ON CHANNEL 6.

WITHERS FILED FOR AND WAS GRANTED A CONSTRUCTION PERMIT FOR A DTV STATION ON CHANNEL 5 WHICH REPLICATES ITS ANALOG FACILITY, FILE NO. BPCDT-20080222AEC, GRANTED MARCH 26, 2008. SHORTLY THEREAFTER, A COMPANY 100% OWNED BY W. RUSSELL WITHERS, JR. ACQUIRED THE ASSETS AND FCC AUTHORIZATION OF WVFX(TV), ANALOG CHANNEL 46, CLARKSBURG, WV. AFTER STUDYING THE SITUATION AFTER CONSUMMATING THIS ACQUISITION, WITHERS DETERMINED THAT IT WOULD SERVE THE PUBLIC INTEREST TO CO- LOCATE THE DIGITAL FACILITIES OF WDTV AND WVFX AT THE WFVX TRANSMITTER SITE IN CLARKSBURG. WITHERS WAS INFLUENCED BY AN FCC RULING ISSUED AT THE END OF MAY, 2008 ELIMINATING THE FREEZE ON SO-CALLED 'MAXIMIZATION' APPLICATIONS. BY MOVING TO THE CLARKSBURG LOCATION, WDTV WOULD BE MAXIMIZING ITS FACILITIES AND BETTER SERVING THE CLARKSBURG-WESTON DMA. THEREFORE, ON JUNE 18, 2008 WDTV FILED ITS 'MAXIMIZATION' APPLICATION, FILE NO. BMPCDT-20080618ACH. WE HAVE BEEN INFORMED THAT CANADIAN CLEARANCE OF THIS PROPOSAL HAS NOT BEEN RECEIVED BY THE FCC; WHAT WITHERS INTENDS TO DO IS TO PROCEED WITH THE CONSTRUCTION AT THE WVFX(TV) SITE (THERE IS AN OUTSTANDING CP FOR THE WVFX DIGITAL FACILITY ON CHANNEL 10 AT THAT LOCATION), AND SEEK AN STA TO OPERATE WDTV-DT ON SOME LOWER POWER SHOULD CANADIAN CLEARANCE NOT BE RECEIVED BY THE LAST DAY OF ANALOG BROADCASTING.

I was serious.
This is exciting.
New transmitter, new feedline and antenna.
STL's and remote control. Monitoring stuff.
Emissions mask and constellation.

Wow! It even may be metric!

Exciting indeed. Considering the rest of "us" did this 8 years ago.

Handles the terrain better, but the picture breaks up into little pixels every time there's a lightning strike nearby.
