You might find this interesting. This guy was at WCAW in the 60s. The station moved from 1400 or something like that - to 680, at 250w He told me at 680/250 watts the signal blew away WHMS - the rocker then at 1490 --- later WGKV/WXIT. He said, WCAW decided to go fulltime R/R with the frequency change. Adam says the studios were on the top floor of the Kanawaha Hotel and Pete Johnson, the owner, had an apartment on the same floor. He told me Johnson would come in late after an evening of drinkin' and drag the AP teletype paper all the way to his apartmwnt and read it all night.
