Nick,
As a moderator and as someone who sort-of understands why you're bitching right now, here is a suggestion:
We're glad to have anyone in the business (especially currently working in West Virginia radio) share their $0.02 here as much as possible. If you're going to promote yourself or your station, do it quietly and infrequently. Dave in the Morning's mention of doing a remote at a local strip club is a good example. It wasn't so much about him as it was about the location and everybody had fun with it. As Lester (he's the owner of this message board, by the way) mentioned, this isn't the place for front-and-center shameless self promotion. A blog on your station's website is a much better venue for that kind of stuff, and it'll be more effective in promoting your show than anything you post here. Just chill a little and you'll be OK.

FWIW Nick, Rod was supposed to interview Ashley today too.
I think the Obama folks are making the rounds of local radio. Im surprised the McCain camp isn't doing the same thing.

How much are they paying?

Nothing that I know of. We spin the interview away from politics.
However, we were supposed to have David Arquette on but he backed
out for the same reason Ashley did and never called. So ultimately we
haven't had any Hollywood on. a
Which is fine with me.

Someone really, really needs to grow up...and I think his initials are NS.
I frequent a lot of places...and few of them are as wide open and rolicking as this wonderful place. If you can't tolerate the heat, perhaps it is best you leave...and get out of radio, too...before your precious wittle feelings get hurt.

Maybe I'm wrong but I didn't see what was so bad about what he posted.

Re: Good too see...
btw, Lester, there is, at this time, no "equal time" requirement. The Fairness Doctrine is not currently in effect. Thus, Laura, Rush, Sean and others can interview whomever they wish, and so can what's his name who started the locked thread.
And all I could get was Ted Danson and President Clinton. I would have much preferred Ashley.

Re: Good too see...
Dave - Point taken in this context. The last shameless self promotion got trashed almost as soon as I saw it... I suspect you missed it.
Bob - Thanks for the update. I was curious how that worked. I know our local morning shows (what few we have left) send out invites to both parties, and they interview whoever takes the bait. However, my issue isn't/wasn't about equal time...

Yeah, I know. We'll take whoever we can get also, mostly because it's an excuse to name drop later, and we like to ask questions about anything but politics.

Re: Good too see...
Perhaps Lester and ARP were thinking less of the "Equal Time" and more
toward the "Unreported Campaign Contribution" factor.

Re: Good too see...
Nick, if you want to shamelessly self promote, get a friggin' Twitter account. It is your own damn forum and microblog that you can plug on air, along with your Facebook and MySpace.
I think the admins were right in this case. And we just had too much fun with Dave at the strip club. Well the rest of the folks had fun with Dave doing the strip club scene while I was spending my free time frequenting the strip clubs in Philly.
Lord. I sound like one of the characters on It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia.
At least they have not done an episode betting horses or hanging out at the casinos. yet.

Re: Good too see...
The strip club owner was actually the one who pulled the plug on the remote. He said he didn't want to hurt our business with other clients. I just posted it because I wanted to give you guys a mental image of a strip club in Logan...one of THREE, by the way.

Nick, dude,
You're not saving the world, man. It's just local radio. The more you carry this on, the worse these guys are going to give it to you. And, by the way, one day, you may need one of these "washed up" guys to give you a job. Be careful.

That's clutch right there. . . . .
