WSAZ anchor injured in wreck

Post by genlock »

From Herald-disgrace:

HUNTINGTON -- Two people were transported to St. Mary's on Thursday evening when a Chevrolet Cavalier crashed into an electric Smart Car at the intersection of 5th Avenue and 10th Street.

The Cavalier struck the Smart Car, then continued down 5th Avenue and hit another car, pushing it into yet another vehicle.

The driver of the Smart Car was Bill Murray, a news anchor for WSAZ.

Both the driver of the Cavalier and Murray were transported with complaints of chest pain, though the injuries appeared to be minor.

A family member of the driver also said she had bad knees which were further agitate by the crash.

The woman claimed that her brakes malfunctioned and she was unable to stop. Witnesses at the scene said she appeared to be accelerating after the two vehicles collided.

No word on whether his hair was damaged in the wreck.
It may, however, be the only recorded time that "Bill Murray" and "Smart" were ever used in a sentence together.

Apparently the crash test data on the smart cars is pretty good. Of course, there is no "Crush test" data for when one goes up against an H2.

Interesting how the moderators of this board delete my rude comments about Genlock but they don't delete his ignorant comments about Bill Murray.

In case you haven't heard, Genlock is a dumb idiot.

"Ignorant" means "lacking knowledge." What knowledge about this person does Genlock lack that makes his 7:50am post invalid?
In case you haven't heard, Genlock is a dumb idiot.
Genlock has demonstrated a definite level of knowledge of the market in his posts, plenty of competence in his area(s) of expertise, and a desire for high standards and a quality product. What is idiotic about that?

You, on the other hand, appear not to like having your ease, comfort, and pleasure messed with by the pointing out of where the standard of quality actually is.... :?

Here's my 2 cents, for what it's worth. For Genlock to bash Bill Murray after the man was hurt in a car wreck is pretty rude. Bill is a great guy and doesn't deserve it.

I did not bash Bill Murray. I made a joke.
I mean, It's not like I said he was rear-ended by Cavalier or something.

WSAZ has not mentioned the incident on the air or on the web site.
I wonder why there is no cry for sympathy?

Yeah... but anyone who even half knows Genlock wouldn't expect anything less. If he ain't dead, he's fair game for ridicule on this board.

I found this in today's Inquirer Online.

Fitting for this thread.

Every auto maker that has ever been asked has said that the main reason fuel economy hasn't improved is due to our desire for horse power on the take off (i.e. jack rabbit starts). If Americans would be willing to live with 120 to 130 horse power, we might be able to buy a family-sized sedan that gets 40 MPG.

I know the Honda Civic gets 160 HP and about 38 MPG. Still, it is too small for a family of 4.

Nope. That formula did work in the late 70s and early 80s when full size sedans weighed less than 4000 lbs and the V8 motors had 120 ponies or less.

Now, a mid size sedan tips the scale at just under 2 tons due to all the additional safety features. Those 5 star crash test ratings indeed have a negative impact on fuel economy.
