Feds preparing to de-rat Rat Island

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Feds preparing to de-rat Rat Island

Post by Dr. Whiplash »

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - A federal agency is moving forward with a plan to rid Rat Island of rats. The US Fish and Wildlife Service has determined that the project will not have any significant impacts requiring further environmental analysis. Rat Island in the Aleutian Island chain is infested with Norway rats. The project to get rid of the rats is the first whole-island rat eradication in Alaska. The rats arrived on the uninhabited island from a shipwreck in the late 1700s. The agency says public comment on the program has been overwhelmingly positive. The project hopes to restore seabirds and native vegetation to the island by getting rid of the rats.

Meanwhile, Mark Hallburn plans a protest due to the noise created by the scurrying creatures.

Sounds like an upcoming Sci-Fi network weekend offering.

We could just ship some river rats up there to restore order.

Maybe the professor can make a large wheel for the eats to run in to supply power for Gilligan, the Skipper, and the rest. Or is that the island with the survivors of the Oceanic Flight on Lost? The rats can be food for the giant polar bear.
