BBC newscaster loses it on the air.

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Charlotte Green lost her composure, dissolving into helpless giggling during a story about the world's oldest recorded voice when a colleague apparently said over her headphones that it sounded like a bee in a bottle. She was unable to get things together for the next story, an obituary and a colleague had to step in before things returned to normal.

Which brings me to this question:
What was your absolute worst on-air breakdown? I've had news copy set on fire and copy tampered with, I've been mooned and even worse. How about you? There has to be interesting stories to share.

I had a fit of the unstoppable giggles once, and I giggle like a girl which makes it extra embarrassing. I had just seen a cartoon that made me laugh and was still recovering when I cracked the mic. I thought I had better explain why my voice was weird (er than usual) and in doing so, reminded myself of the cartoon and got the giggles again. I know I was rolling a minidisc at the time, but for the life of me I can't find it....
So sayeth His Royal Highness King Spike; greatest broadcasting talent of his generation.

I remember back around 1973, as a weekender reading the top of the hour news. (Yes, back in those days we pulled AP wire news and read it live.) Anyway, the 1st class dude came into the studio at that time... sat down and I am not sure what he did, but I got the giggles. I finished the story I was on... turned off the mic for a few seconds to compose myself and looked over at him. He just looked at me and said, "This is serious Shit", just before I turned the mic back on. I went to the next story. A plane crash....... I don't think I was able to finish that story.
I'm just happy to know the Dougger!
