Osama-Obama whatever. Somebody call Bill Gates.

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Enclosed is the actual e-mail concerning tickets to see Obama in Charleston tomorrow.

When I send e-mail, I always use Microsoft's Spell Check. I often never look to see what Spell Check is changing, (bad habit) and just allow it to do it's thing.

This has caused embarrassment in the past and REALLY caused embarrassment in this case. It appears the Microsoft Spellcheck knows all about OSAMA, but nothing about OBAMA:

So... this is what they received:

From: wvskydiver [mailto:*****atsuddenlink.net]

To: Obama for America - West Virginia
Subject: Tickets

Hello!

I am interested in tickets for Osama's visit?

Thanks!

Jerry

To which they replied:

If you see Osama –please alert the secret service!

Thank you for your interest. Tickets for the Beckley event are recommended but not required. For further details, please see http://my.yaddayaddayaddaObama - West Virginia

Whenever I send an email to John DeVincent at WV Radio, my spell check wants to change "DeVincent" to "deliquent".

I say it works perfectly! :)

When I was in college, we lived in suites. Word Perfect's suggestion for suitemates was sodomites.

Personally, CoolBreeze, I can't help wondering if the requesting party was engaging in a somewhat disastrously misguided attempt at humor. If such should be the case, then his ineptitude in spelling, however unsettling, is the least of his worries.

I was always amused at Clarisworks' spellchecking being eager to correct "Dr Who's Tardis". Apparently, it should have been "Dr Who's Turds."
