Argh! If you follow the link to the "Fun Grammar Quiz," questions 5 and 10 have commas that shouldn't be there! Punctuation errors on a grammar quiz! Arrgghhhh!
(Yes, I got 10/10, but that's not important right now....)

With respect to the difficulty faced with lie/lay and sit/set, just remember that lay and set take objects.
Example:
When you return from the library, lay the books on the desk.
I'll finish my chores before I lie down.
Example:
Don't sit on the newly varnished chair!
Get a coaster before you set the glass on the table.
(An exquisitely simple bit of advice from one of the most amazing teachers I ever had. It just so happened that she taught English!)
