Waves at the River.....

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

Good for Newman.

I'm glad that there's a station in this market that will put up with his cocaine-binges and all-day flatulence contests.

The pictures of naked men with shaved goats on his screen-saver was a little disturbing. Hell. A lot disturbing.

Newman...have you or your minions read this far yet? Good.
(Go tell and you get extra-credit with Newmee).

The little red ball with the ear-straps he keeps on the desk is for....well...why spoil it for the crowd at Magic River.

BJ was a joke - never liked the Huntington market and never did much to advance what can be a GREAT group of stations. The other problem they have is their sales manager. Paul Neace is a good guy but NOT a leader AT ALL. In fact, he himself is not that great of a sales person. Could not really sell Rock 105, was average at best with B-97 and then did VERY little at Channel 8. It is a business and their leadership - i.e. BJ and Paul was suspect (to say the least) from the beginning. I'm not sure Newman is the answer but it can't be any worse and at least he'll bring a new perspective!!!

Was BJ fired or transferred to another assignment?

The VP's flew in, had a private meeting with her to fire her, and then the whole staff was let in on the new developments.

I'll second that notion and I really hope Newman does well. BUT to be sucessful you need a good staff. I'm not sure he has that on the sales side. Newman is a class act and knows how to sell, however, being a GM he will be pulled in many directions which means he needs to rely on his sales staff. His sales staff does not have a leader. The chief is weak and the indians are not much better. He may need to blow up the sales staff and start over. He will also have to promote far better - I have talked to many people who do not even know about these stations.

Sounds like he's already making changes for the better. Wonder who ate cake when BJ left? Hey Gallipolisgal, there's still some in fridge for when you finish jumping for joy  Good luck, everybody! Lester, thanks for letting me on the board!

If it is going to be a player - get rid of the useless sales staff - especially the leader (Paul Neace) who is no leader at all. Newman can do this and if he is as sharp as we all think he is - he will see what a worthless sales staff he has. We can meet one of them at the bar everyday by 2:00 pm - wonder if they have trade???

Ouch. That would hurt if a sales staff existed...

Staff
Noun
Personnel who assist their superior in carrying out an assigned task.

That's plural. Tumbleweeds roll through the old sales room. Just a few hanging on, and why?
The warning signs were flashing a long time ago: RUN! RUN! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!

He'll fix it up. How much worse can it get before people start heading to the to the roof for a nice free fall? Will a broken leg get you a sick day?
