More proof that America is doomed.

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

It seems like this is the second or third or fourth time I've heard about this kind of thing happening with Southwest. :?

Could it be because its CEO (former, now?) is an unattractive woman?

I can get behind "too ugly", "too fat", "you f-cking stink, get off my plane", but I have no love for "too hot to fly."

Oh, the vanity of it all!

"I'm too pretty ... we aren't like the rest of the passengers ... um ... we're young ... and, well ... very, very attractive ............."

My impression was of two young ladies who are used to getting what they want and being treated like princesses by the whole world because they're exceptionally good looking. Add in some tired, stressed flight attendants and the airline industry's arch-backed, hair-trigger response to anyone causing a "disturbance" within 3 miles of an airplane, and there you have it.

Me thinks this is a lot of hooey about nothing.

Me thinks pretty girls SHOULD be give much better treatment simply because...

Given Southwest's target of infrequent and inexperienced leisure travellers, I understand that sentiment and would almost universally and completely agree with it......except this time.

Seriously, Southwest has developed a track record of these specific things....

I think that Southwest leverages situations like this in order to gain media attention. Think of this as free advertising. Not the best light to see an airline, but at least their name came up in the news instead AirTran, America West (YES, I know it is US Air but if you had flown both airlines prior to the merger, you would know why I think US Air is now a cut rate budget airline) or Jet Blue.

And having been on a few flights from Philly to LA, those are painful trips to take by plane. Trapped on a plane for at least 5 hours (6 is more realistic when considering time sitting on the tarmac and waiting in cues to take off or pull into the gate) with 200 other passengers with economy level service is possibly the worst experience I have been through in the last few years. (I love LA, but I hate having to travel there.) The flight attendants are almost always on a hair trigger and quite often they are so busy in trying to handle the crowds that they forget to follow up on requests for things like a bottle of water. It does not upset me, but then again, I purchase water and snacks in the airport prior to boarding so I can sit quietly for the majority of my flight with either my PC playing a movie or listening to my iPod while reading a magazine. (It is nice to fly without processing mounds of work like I used to when I worked at the Swastica.)

To me, these chicks are nothing more than a couple of inexperienced, immature flyers who think they should be served by the flight attendants like they are the only passengers on the plane. The flights I have taken to LA typically have a higher number of these inexperienced passengers than those I have taken to Chicago, NYC, or other cities throughout the US. I am interested to see what my flight to Las Vegas will be like in a couple of weeks.

CG,

A flight to Vegas? On Southwest?

Yikes...good luck!

Not that I've flown Southwest(I'm a Delta Delta Delta) but flying is craptacular, period.

I flew Raleigh to Vegas on Southwest. Slam packed full.

I sat next to Miss North Carolina USA ('07).

Best. Trip. Ever.
