They might have the regulatory approval, but if this article proves accurate, they won't have the $$$ to fund the deal.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Clear Channel Communications Inc (NYSE:CCU - News) and the private equity firms that want to buy it may go to court to force lenders to complete the leveraged buyout, the New York Times said, citing people briefed on the talks.

Talks were continuing Tuesday night, but if the matter is not resolved, the U.S. radio operator and private equity firms Thomas H. Lee Partners and Bain Capital Partners LLC might sue as soon as Wednesday, the newspaper said on Wednesday. It said the people it cited as sources were given anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the transaction.

It's getting better, kids.

As always, the people who have the assured income from this deal are the lawyers.

I get the feeling this will end with something like, "...and, in business news today, famed financier Sir Lawrence Wildman has announced a tender offer of $27 a share for the company that includes the support of numerous stakeholders."

No BANKS want this...

Post by bigjohn »

Hey.. have you heard the scuttle about this deal.. no banks.. no brokerage firms want this deal.. all of them are screaming that they've oversold and overbought the stations.. think about it .. you've got stations you paid 10 mil for and they are worth (because of some great programming minds).. worth half of what they bought them for.. why would you want these things.. unless you're going to take them back to the old days of radio.. and start programming them for real!!... I feel sorry for my radio buds that have to deal with another selling frenzy again...

The guy who is leading this for TH Lee was on CNBC this morning around 10:40...during the conversation, he said something like they plan on increasing the value of the enterprise 150% and the value of the equity 200-300%.

More on CC...

Post by bigjohn »

hey.. you're exactly right.. how do you expect to gain from incredible loss unless you start letting more jocks go .. They probably won't cut the sales comish... can't take it from the promotions (you gotta have something on the air to promote when you don't have local jocks).. they won't cut from engineering... again.. just like CBS and like cc did years ago ..you cut the airstaff from the top down.. you make the budget....no one is safe in those stations..
