W. Va. Broadcasting History web page

I have changed the URL for the West Virginia Broadcasting History web page to:

http://jeff560.tripod.com/wvbroadcasting.html

The pages were formerly at AOL and the reason for the change is that on Friday the much maligned AOL started putting banner ads on all web pages they host.

As always, old pictures and info are always welcome!

Doesn't Tripod do the same thing eventually?

You have such a GREAT site that I have never understood why you never went dot com. I have a great host with more space than I could ever use and it only costs me $45 a year (minimum 3 years). Domain names are cheap. Hell... put up a Pay Pal button if you don't feel like laying out a dime for all your hard work.

I pay Tripod $5 per month to get 1 GB of space and no ads. I already had the Tripod site for other things with plenty of room left over, so I moved the WV broadcasting pages there.

I actually still pay AOL $10 per month for dial-up service as a backup in case my cable service goes out, so it was annoying to find banner ads on my pages hosted at AOL. Some of the pages (not broadcasting related) had been there for over 10 years and had lots of links to them, so I didn't really want to move them. But I recognize that an AOL address is not usually considered the sign of a good web site!

Hey Jeff thank you for maintaining your way back machine. I've spent quite a bit of time there bumping into people and places from my WV radio days in the late 60's/early 70's. Former WCAW jock. Thanks a bunch.

So... for the same as I'm paying for my dot-com, you could have one also.

And instead of a difficult URL like
http://jeff560.tripod.com/wvbroadcasting.html

It could simply be www.wvbroadcastinghistory.com (or something easy to remember like that)

By the way, I just looked that up. It's up for grabs.
