Appearantly, a court somewhat iced the FCC's filth crusade last year by throwing out its "fleeting references" policy, making it harder for broadcast stations to be fined under these conditions.
Under the original policy, I would say nail them, just to be fair.
But it's nice to finally see a little bit of sanity returning to this issue.
Anyway, that was hilarious...

$325,000 x 2 for the analog and digital signals for each ABC-affiliated station in the Eastern time zone equals a big chunk of change. That's one hell of a worst case scenario, I know (since it may depend on if anyone complains in a given market, and the high ceiling doesn't mean that the fine would necessarily be that high), but that is quite a potential financial liability for ABC and its affiliates.
In a slightly related note, CBS began forcing its all of its affiliates to air its shitbag, third-rate Early Show in its entirety as a "must carry" show effective January 7. Details are here: http://www.wtvf.com/Global/story.asp?S=7587953

I hear that WBNS was really thrilled to drop the 7:00 hour of its top-rated 10TV News HD.Ace Purple wrote:...related note, CBS began forcing its all of its affiliates to air its shitbag, third-rate Early Show in its entirety as a "must carry" show effective January 7. And Harry's show features a screaming EARLY graphic on everything; EARLY Headlines, EARLY Video, EARLY Live. First time I woke up and saw EARLY Video, my first thought was major breaking news. Nope. just a stupid graphic theme.

You're forgetting GMA is not a hip hop, rock, or apolitical "hot talk" radio show. The rules only really apply to them.K- wrote:Appearantly, a court somewhat iced the FCC's filth crusade last year by throwing out its "fleeting references" policy, making it harder for broadcast stations to be fined under these conditions.
