I can remember playing that song when it first came out in '89 (yes, I am that old) and thinking, "how the hell do you get the idea to do a song like that?"

Gee, from your picture Dave, I would have thought you to be much younger.

"We didn't start the Fire", great song. Very catchy, one of those that keeps running over and over in your head after you hear it.
Even if your not sure what the words are, (though, any missing or out of place and you would know it in a moment.)
Think Billy should do an updated song from where he left off.

Would like to do the same thing in video, with a song that I can not think of at the moment.
Starts with; "Mott the Hoople - Rachel Singers, - Twanging Eddie". I know I have the song, just can not think of the name of it.

I always thought it would be cool to do a companion version on West Virginia history, and another on the evolution of Top 40 radio.

Actually, it was Ray Charles Singers, not Rachel Singers.

A lot of people consider that recording to be one of the first popular rap songs.

The splices between takes are obvious. Has anybody actually gotten a verse of this song out in one breath?

Indeed, the splices are splendidly evident. However, the deep breath refers to the large inhalation of air just before the vocal begins in the recording.

Either that or you'd have to have lungs down to your knees!

(Hmmm..., I wonder if Barbra Streisand, Johnny Mathis or Melba Moore--all known for their amazing breath control--could pull it off.)
