R.I.P. Pavarotti

This is a good place to drop general and weird news, entertainment, and general show prep material that might be interesting to air talent or producers. Hot dog threads ALWAYS welcome.

Italian Tenor Pavarotti Dies at Age 71
Sep 6, 1:34 AM (ET)
By ALESSANDRA RIZZO

ROME (AP) - Luciano Pavarotti, whose vibrant high C's and ebullient showmanship made him the most beloved and celebrated tenor since Caruso and one of the few opera singers to win crossover fame as a popular superstar, died Thursday. He was 71.

His manager, Terri Robson, told the AP in an e-mailed statement that Pavarotti died at his home in Modena, Italy, at 5 a.m. local time. Pavarotti had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last year and underwent further treatment in August.

If there's an "Opera Heaven," then the tenors just got stronger! Now he and Beverly Sills can do some serious, but fun, duets!

Actually, I think he'd prefer to work with real musicians and singers.

I heard from a pretty reliable source that he would often slink off to his dressing room after performances with TWO female companions. One to... you know... perform the service, the other to hold his stomach out of the way.
