Do you get credit for driving a "green" car?

LAGUNA NIGUEL, Calif. (AP) - Al Gore's son was arrested early Wednesday on suspicion of possessing marijuana and prescription drugs after deputies pulled him over for speeding, authorities said.

Al Gore III, 24, was driving a blue Toyota Prius about 100 mph on the San Diego Freeway when he was pulled over at about 2:15 a.m., Sheriff's Department spokesman Jim Amormino said.

Oh Yeah they do!!..ahem..not that I ever personally had my Prius up
to 100...but I do know that it will f up your mpgs....so much for the gas mileage....I drive like a grandma now to keep my mpgs near 50....

You know what else ef's up your gas mileage? Toting around all that unnecessary, and heavy, hybrid technology. Don't believe me? Check out the MPG's on a Yaris.

Yeah, I know but all the extras have spoiled me on that car...bluetooth, nav system, smart key etc....if the Corolla had all of that, I'd get a Corolla....that was a great car...same with the Camry...my mpgs have gone down a tick since I got new tires....it was around 50-52, now I'm at 48-49...no biggie but next time I need tires I'm not gonna get the hydroedge type....

Not too bad, now we haven't had alot of snow since I bought a couple of years ago...but the weight of the big battery & the autotraction seem to
help it from sliding too much....I drive REAL slow in the winter so I don't give it too much chance to slide....

That's the kind of tires I was looking at getting next... I need some new ones by winter.

I never thought about certain treads eating away at MPG.

Go to local bike shop.....test-ride a road bike....test-ride a mountain bike....impact of tires becomes really obvious really quickly.......

Paging Hoosier Daddy!

It is good to note that our 4.6l ULEV II gasoline powered motors our cars put out 4 times as much clean air as one of those wimpy little Prius motors.

Bigger motor means more clean air for all of us to breathe.

Vandals Attack Man's Hummer, Leave Note

WASHINGTON (AP) - When Gareth Groves brought home his massive new Hummer, he knew his environmentally friendly neighbors disapproved. But he didn't expect what happened next. The sport utility vehicle was parked for five days on the street before two masked men smashed the windows, slashed the tires and scratched into the body: "FOR THE ENVIRON."

"The thought of somebody vandalizing it never crossed my mind," said Gareth Groves, who lives near American University in Northwest Washington. "I've kind of been in shock."

Police said they see small acts of vandalism in the area from time to time, but they have not seen anything so severe, or with such a clear political message, in recent years.

"This seems to be an isolated event," Cmdr. Andy Solberg said.

Investigators said they are searching for the vandals but don't have many leads. Witnesses said they saw two men smash up the seven-foot-tall SUV early Monday and then run off.

Now, as Groves contemplates what to do with the remains of his $38,000 Hummer, he has had to deal with a number of people who have driven by the crime scene and glared at him in smug satisfaction.

"I'd say one in five people who come by have that 'you-got-what-you-deserve' look," said his friend Andy Sexton.

Neighbor Lucille Liem, who owns a Prius hybrid, said that a common sentiment in the neighborhood is that large vehicles such as the Hummer are impractical and a strain on the Earth.

"The neighborhood in general is very concerned with the environment," said Liem, whose Prius gets about 48 miles a gallon compared with the Hummer's 14 miles a gallon. "It's more liberal leaning. It's ridiculous to be driving a Hummer."

Liem quickly added that she does not condone violence.

All this talk about green cars makes me want another Jeep. Especially now that I have my Land Yacht paid off.
