I'm sure a few of you watch Robot Chicken... I don't. I had no clue what it was about. Not sure if I'd like any other episodes... but this one, complete with real voice cameos by George Lucas, Mark Hamill, Conan O'Brien, etc, is the funniest 30 minutes of TV I've ever seen.

Dude, you should watch it. It's at least that funny in every episode. A few of the skits you saw on the Star Wars special were originally done for regular episodes.

i've been meaning to check this one out. i remember auditioning for something for that show about 2 years ago. can't remember if it was an announcer or character part, but it sounded like fun when i did it.

nothing much to tell, i do VO work for a company called Earworks. one day i get an audition script and see that it's for a new thing on the cartoon network called adult swim. obviously i didn't get the part. now i wish i would have put more time into the audition lol

on a related note, my afternoon guy here makes a MINT with VO work. he works out of a place called Studio Center. literally a MINT!

VO work is the place to REALLY make money in this business. he paid off his Infiniti G35 in less than a year. and will likely put at least 50% down on a house this year.

you've probably heard him on tv where you are... check out his demo. he's the 8th one down on this list. Bart Thomasson.

i asked him one day how he got to this point, he said he just listens to how other guys sound on commercials and does that.... is it really THAT easy?

YIP, i made more money doing VO than i did in remotes last year, and we get $100/hour for remotes.

i did a few things for charlie cooper back when i was still living in charleston, but nothing on the scale of what's available around here.... HOLY CRAP!!!

moral of the story for the young up and coming broadcasters..... go into VO work... more money than on air, and less stressful than sales.

Never did sales, as most sales people I ever came in contact with were douches.

*note I said MOST...not all. Some were cool though*

I've always wanted to do VO work or voice work for cartoons. Might be a venture I'll have to make down the road.

I always thought it was kind of demeaning for a DJ to do a remote and some crusty pizza place for 50 bucks....but that's the nature of the business.

I do a couple of remotes a week at various car dealerships in Southern WV. They can be pretty crusty, too.

Oh...I know. I'm just saying there's some shady places that DJs have to do remotes at...and dealing with the shady owners of said places can be an experience.

I haven't dealt with too many "shady" characters (at remotes anyway..most were in the studio). I agree, though, that going out and doing remotes, fun or not, is part of the job. Personally, I love doing remotes. It gets me out of the office, plus I like money, too.
