I'd keel over if I heard a radio station that had the fortitude to play one day of Halloween music, except for one or two playings of Monster Mash.
There's a great SciFi box Rhino put out a few years ago, that I wish i had but can't afford, called Brain In A Box. It would be a great Halloween play all by itself.

wow.
I forgot all about that song.
For cryin' out loud, that should be the ANTHEM for us.
How many songs have an actual radio-guy doing his schtick as a part of the song?
And-----how did they perform that song in concert, or did they at all?
Oh---two others do come to mind, although the radio people are 'generic' and not individually honored. I'm sure there are plenty more---which could become a thread all it's own.
"We Built this City" (Starship)
"Paradise....dashboard light" (Meatloaf) the part in the song with the play-by-play

In his excellent book called " Have Mercy!: Confessions of the Original Rock 'N' Roll Animal" Wolfman Jack talked about how he was bored with his radio gig in NY when Burton Cummings offered him more money to go out on the road with The Guess Who to perform the song "Clap For The Wolfman" for a few months than he made for an entire year on his radio gig...
The man took the money!!!

Clearly on the defensive, Bush now sounds increasingly Nixonian as he basically calls the majority of the country traitors for noticing he tricked us.

Re: wow.
It wouldn't actually be their "schtick" necessarily, but the following "jocks on vinyl" come to mind:Kitesgot wrote: How many songs have an actual radio-guy doing his schtick as a part of the song?
Wolfman Jack ("Did You Boogie With Your Baby In The Back Row Of The Movie Show?" by Flash Cadillac)
Dickie Goodman ("Energy Crisis '74" and all the others)
Hudson And Landry ("Ajax Liquor Store", "Bruiser LaRue")
Rege Cordic ("Bingo")
Les Crane ("Desiderata")
Byron MacGregor ("The Americans")
The Big Bopper ("Chantilly Lace")
And then, of course there are the radio references in:
Charlie Dore--Pilot Of The Airwaves
Sugarloaf--Don't Call Us, We'll Call You (Wolfman Jack imitation)
The Ramones--Do You Remember Rock And Roll Radio
The Kinks--Around The Dial
The Sports--Who Listens To The Radio?

You have to keep realizing that I consider Rick Dees as the singer of "Disco Duck" and not a radio personality.Lester wrote:No Disco Duck?
And, oh, by the way you sparked something in me: "Do You Think I'm Disco?" by Steve Dahl. I hope that makes up for the Rick Dees omission...
