"I have Amyloidosis. Good news it is the most common one...bad news... Need chemo. Bone marrow and possibly a heart transplant...
but i had an 8 in a million shot at getting this mess up disease ...my odds have got to be better of beating it.. long road ahead...thanks for your love and support...
now is when i will need you the most!

UPDATE: I'm going to get to go home for a few days...then they are sending me to the Cleveland Clinic for my treatments and transplants. I want to thank the staff at Allegheny General...you were so good to me! Winners find a way to win...Lets do this!

If you pray, keep it up. The situation has gotten even more urgent, according to yesterday's FB post by Lacy - "UPDATE: found out that it is starting to spread to other organs..it is in my blood stream. So we are gonna strike now! Chemo starts in the morning! I feel i am in great hands at Cleveland clinic. Thanks again for YOUR help...it make is easier with your support #neffstrong"

"Update! Sorry this is late! I feel like this is the only way I can communicate with you now. Bad night last night. Right before the chemo. my heart rate dropped and i passed out. They had to give me CPR and bring me back. They did!
They got me stabilized and I went through my first chemo treatment. I feel like I have soldiers in my body fighting for me now! Feel better. On total bed rest and just need to relax. My heart is very weak but it is a fighter!
Pray for my heart to stay strong and fight!!! I love u all! Thank you for standing back to back with me in this fight. I have a new respect for Amyloidosis and what it can do! I am a sick guy. But with my family, friends, my co workers,
support of everyone, put the with the fact I'm in the best hospital with best care and I have God...Amyloidosis is in for a fight as well. How do you eat a elephant? One bite at a time! I'm four bites into him and ready for more!"
