I heard on WVHU this morning that Cornwell will be doing play-by-play for Spring Valley High School football games, beginning this Friday evening. Cornwell has been the PA announcer for Marshall football games in the last couple of years, and will continue in that role.
WVHU will be carrying Spring Valley sports for the first time in years. The Timberwolves games began on WVHU, but had been on the Kindred stations for the last several years while Huntington High sports were on WVHU. HHS moves to Kindred.
I saw Bill in the press box at Marshall's stadium last Saturday during a Herd football practice. He said he had left the Habitat for Humanity Restore last October. J.B. Miller continues to run the Restore in addition to doing his morning drive show on the Big Buck Country station.
Because of Spring Valley's game this Friday evening on WVHU and Ironton High School football on WIRO, the Cincinnati Reds broadcast will be only on FM in Huntington - on WAMX FM 106-3 and also on 107.1.
I can't recall the last time a Reds game wasn't on an AM station in the Huntington market.
