It's not looking very good. I do believe it will take some "mediation" from the state to get the two parties back in line.

In the Clarksburg area, I'm hearing a lot of negativity that could end the WBOY dominance in that market. People will not forget how WVMH blacked out their station at the height of an emergency. I have yet to hear one positive comment from anyone in favor of WVMH. In fact, I've even heard how some schools are considering no longer having the WBOY Snowbird visits. A shame, because there are a lot of good people at 12 NEWS regardless of who cuts their checks.

This is/was all about greed. I can understand the WVMH demands if their product was worth it. Has anyone seen the video quality of the statewide newscast? It looks filmed through wax paper and taped on a 1985 VHS cassette from a dollar store. Ever tried watching network programming on WBOY? Never returns on time to the network, ads run at will, poor audio/video quality - what else? For chrissake, WBOY can't even afford a live weekend weather anchor at the Clarksburg desk. How long before newscasts are not spliced together in Charleston, with the only local production are reporters?

When, or if, they return to DISH, Bray's got some explainin' to do! A lot of people will not forget his careless actions.

When the state is under a state of emergency, and potential life-saving information is withheld from folks in the more rural areas (assuming they had power), shouldn't someone's head roll? Could someone's right to broadcast effectively be challenged, or are people counted on to have short memories?

I know that I'll be shopping at a grocery store in the area that gave away meat, dairy and other perishables, while a certain unnamed big box store ALLEGEDLY had 'associates' (slaves) put theirs in refrigerated trucks. After word got out, so did the spin effort from a spokesperson (who may not have been wearing her vest). Will I pay somewhat more? You bet. Will this give me some measure of satisfaction? Absolutely.

Keep dreaming. Not happening. WV state government has no jurisdiction in this one. Why do you think WVMH just held a statewide food drive with help from Governor Tomblin's office? Hells bells - Tomblin sent the National Guard to pick up the food donations. Dude - connect the dots.

Not a shock. Apparently Clarksburg is catching up to Wheeling in that department. They've hated Bray for a lot longer. Perhaps this is Bray's "Katrina" moment.

No, you're mistaken. This is/was all about Bray. He negotiated a NASCAR contract, and you didn't. Because he negotiated a NASCAR contract, that gives him the right to run his station group any way he damn well pleases.

WVMH engineers knew back in 2002 the black boxes they were buying for Bray for statewide program distribution were for videoconferencing use, and barely "prosumer" grade. IIRC, WV Public Broadcasting had them before WVMH did. They were only using them for videoconferencing though.

Why no protest from engineering staff? My guess is they enjoyed cashing paychecks, and could baffle Bray with piles of s#@t as long as budgets were met. Helluva gig for engineers - as long as it kinda worked, and you stayed within budget, you could keep cashing paychecks and saying you'll fix something "tomorrow."

They tried that circa 2003. After the flaming wreckage of statewide weekend newscasts was cleaned up, they went to the current format. I don't think even Bray is stupid enough to try that stunt again.

Bray doesn't explain anything. The real villain here is BB & T, who issued the debt that keeps Bray afloat. Wonder what some of their big shots watching WVMH in WV think of what Bray is doing with their money?

Does anyone know who blinked first-DISH or WVMH? To what terms did Cary finally agree? Status quo, or slight increase? Not that it matters now, but it would still be interesting to know, for the next time...
