The northbound entrance ramp at the Edens Fork exit on Interstate 77 will be closed until midnight Thursday while crews clean up a tractor-trailer accident.
A tractor-trailer hauling a truckload of frozen turkeys was heading northbound along Interstate 77 at about 1 p.m. when it crossed the median, struck the entrance ramp guardrail and went over the hill, said Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatchers.
The truck rested upon its side and boxes of frozen turkeys scattered across the roadway.
Dispatchers said the driver appeared to be OK but was taken to CAMC General Hospital as a precaution. Kanawha County Sheriff's deputies are investigating.

So... are they still considered roadkill, even though they weren't technically killed on the road?

This reminds me of a radio PSA that aired many years ago promoting carpooling to work. It had a TV news team riding to work together and they were rehearsing their stories en route. They witnessed a truck spilling a load of chickens onto the road. At the end of the PSA one of them yells 'Chickens on freeway; film at 11!'
