I have sad news to report. It has been decided that 59 News no longer wants my services as the evening news anchor. Yesterday was my last day. I was not given the chance to say goodbye to the viewers so I'm going to do that here. It has been my honor to bring you the news at WVNS-TV for the last four years. It's one of the best jobs I've ever had and the viewers have been the very best I've encountered throughout my 22 year career as a broadcast journalist in West Virgina. I will miss you all. As it stands now, I will be forced to leave the state where I grew up and where my mother is buried. I'm told I can not work for another TV station in West Virginia for a year due to a non-compete clause in my old contract. Pray for me and my family as I try to find work in this economy.
Again, it's been my pleasure to serve as your "newsman".

That's anchors at WTRF, WOWK, and now WVNS, gone.
Is the WBOY shoe next to drop or are we seeing the first dawn of a news or complete consolidation?
WVNS, WOWK and WTRF have catfish ratings so it probably wouldn't hurt much.
I think WBOY at least has parity with WDTV.

I hope he can get work at WTOV in Steubenville, as my wife and I usually gravitate to Channel 9's news, although Nate Fluharty does a good job. Both he and and Jim Forbes could certainly swap stories.

Bray most likely gave Martin a choice: take my pay cut and schedule change, or have some walking papers.
