Re: Rep's Rock And Roll Repository: The 1960's
I changed the name for these decade-oriented music posts, since I will not be doing any "Countdowns" next year. I still, like Hoosier, would like to share my knowledge of music that is featured NOWHERE on today's radio dial. And by "radio dial" I mean a commercial station broadcasting from a tower. Not from space. Not over the internet. You know: real radio. So given all that, here is the next batch of seven songs occupying a place in the 1960's hallway of "Rep's Rock And Roll Repository"...
Jamie Brockett / "The Legend Of The U.S.S. Titanic"
The Five Americans / "Evol Not Love"
Marianne Faithfull / "As Tears Go By"
The Magic Lanterns / "Shame Shame"
Bob Kuban & The In-Men / "The Cheater"
The McCoys / "I Can't Explain It"
Kenny Dino / "Your Ma Said You Cried In Your Sleep Last Night"

Re: Rep's Rock And Roll Repository: The 1960's
I have to admit.....
I had '1432 Franklin Park Circle Hero' on a 45. His other hit was "Saturday Morning Confusion' which was a good song also. BTW Bobby Russell was married to VIcky Lawrence from 1972-1974. He wrote 'That's the Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia'. He also wrote 'Little Green Apples' which was a hit for O.C. Smith and it won Grammys for Song of the Year and Best Country Song. Other songs he wrote were 'The Joker Went Wild' (recorded by Brian Hyland) and 'Honey' (Bobby Goldsboro).
I attended a 'Four Jacks and a Jill' concert in the Huntington City Hall auditorium. It must have been in 1968 since it was while 'Master Jack' was on the radio. According to wikipedia the song reached #18 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #3 on the Adult Contemporary chart that year. It was #1 in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa (where the group was from) and 2 other countries.

If I am not mistaken, Four Jacks And A Jill played the Fairmont Field Club somewhere around that time.
Speaking of local (Fairmont, WV area) concerts, am I the only one that remembers Buffalo Springfield (after Neil Young left) playing the Fairmont Theater? This came in a Facebook discussion and I am the only one that remembered them playing there.

Love the Chubby Checker song!
A Walk In The Sky was a pleasant surprise. Never heard of The Flower Pot Men until now, but I could imagine that song blasting out over one of those AM rock stations back in the day with all the compression and heavy audio processing. The spatial sounds that accompany the tempo changes would sound amazing ...
Toussaint McCall: Great song. A one-hit-wonder, I presume ...
As for that 10 minute Space Hymn thing ... it reminds me of this:
Carry on ...

Re: Rep's Rock And Roll Repository: The 1960's
The Flowerpot Men included Tony Burrows (White Plains, First Class, Brotherhood Of Man, Edision Lighthouse, The Pipkins) and Jon Lord (Deep Purple).
I got some weird British K-Tel album back around 1982 and it had that on it. Their big hit (overseas) was "(Let's Go To) San Francisco". I personally think
"A Walk In The Sky" was better.
Also, this is the band that was parodied in "This Is Spinal Tap" when they did "(Listen To The) Flower People"...
