You wouldn't know it to look around Charleston.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. --A study by The Beer Institute says West Virginians drink less wine than people in any other state and are next-to-last when it comes to drinking liquor.
But the State Journal says the study from the industry lobbying group shows West Virginians are No. 17 when it comes to buying beer.
The study was prepared by the West Virginia Bureau for Behavioral Health and Health Facilities and the West Virginia Prevention Center.
It says that while West Virginians tend to consume alcohol at lower rates than the rest of the nation, sales have grown over the past decade.
West Virginians have been drinking more distilled spirits in that time, but not enough to move up in the rankings.
