WOWK Major Technical Glitch

WOWK started their 5pm newscast intro with Gil McClanahan live in Charleston. They could not leave the image, so went to break until 5:02. Then, a video-only Spencer Adkins was in the weatherlab for about a minute when the station again went to break until 5:07. Upon return, they are so far having trouble throwing to stories. Likely more to come!

Returning from commercial at 5:13, Scott Roberts was seen for just a second until the screen went black and the station threw to another commercial until 5:15. Rough start to the news, indeed.

It is Wednesday and the train wreck continues.
Can't seem to get tape stories on the air.
Somehow this smells of an IT problem , more than engineering problem.
Prompter acting up too.
Attractive news lady looks exasperated and pissed.
Maybe Bray made "One cut too far"?
Lots of spots and promos tho.

My bet is on "Parkervision meltdown". They still have good people manning the ship, but the PVTV ship is long past "end of life".

How many people will stay around to just watch spots? then they could just discover they like some other newscast.

Hopefully the new HQ will highly improve WOWK visually and overall.

as for the TV tech one of the board operators is leaving, don't know why. I wonder if wowk will ever get their lip sync fixed ? when I was there I would complain about it till they fixed it. only management was allowed to adjust this delay. I read lips a little and it is very distracting when audio and lips don't match. I guess they just don't care as long as they get the spots on the air. it is funny when someone is knocking on something and their hand is up in the air away from the object when you hear the knock. to much video processing. does anyone else notice this ?

The thing that still bugs me is that their audio is still about half of the other 3 stations. I watch them off an antenna, and I have trouble boosting the volume on WOWK just to hear it.

Checking the audio against the other channels this morning... they are now level with them it seems.

Well, when your presentation looks one step above a small college operation/public access, you're going to have that problem.

I always did wonder if anyone was still using the first generation of the Video Toaster. Just watch a WVMH station, and you'll know.

We only have a few months to wait until the World Headquarters of West Virginia media is unveiled.
It should be top of the line in technology and presentation.
We may even see a premiere show like the one staged by WHCP.
