Today is the nationwide EAS test, but the NAB is advising stations NOT to record the test and use it later in news broadcasts. Seems that re-broadcast will violate FCC rules which restrict broadcasting alert tones only during an actual test or emergency. Lets see how many stations will flunk the exam. One in this market already did so last night with a preview story.

This should be common sense. Any station who records and retransmits an EAS message should have their license pulled.tvchick wrote:...but the NAB is advising stations NOT to record the test and use it later in news broadcasts. I believe that if this test fails, it will fail closer to the top of the relay chain, than the bottom. We'll see.

During the past couple of days or so I heard a station use a recording of a test in a news story about today's test. It did freak me out hearing it, knowing it wasn't "real". I believe I heard it on either a FOX or CBS Radio news story on the test...
