COLUMBUS, Ohio -- (AP) Ohio State says football coach Jim Tressel
has resigned as the NCAA investigates the Buckeyes for possible
rules violations.

The university announced the resignation Monday. Tressel says in
a statement that he met with university officials and agreed that it is in Ohio State's best interest that he resign.

The school says Luke Fickell, an assistant head coach under Tressel, will serve as interim head coach for the 2011-2012 season.

University President E. Gordon Gee says the university's "public purposes" and "tradition of excellence" are guiding its actions.

So what kind of future does Tressel have after the radioactivity dies down? TV in a few years, or will he still be untouchable? Some small program that wants to hit the big time as Tressel becomes their Phoenix? Does he go down a similar path as Huggins, albeit a more precarious one?

With the monies he's received, he's probably okay for a little while.

Today being Memorial Day, flags should be at half-mast.

For Ohio, they'll probably keep their state flag like that the rest of the week.

Now that this is happened, I suppose OSU has to honor the remaining part of his contract, unless there's a clause similar to what's happened.

He'll be on TV this fall and on TV for a year (possibly two) and then he will be at another major program.
