So, It's OK Now?

If it's about broadcasting, radio, TV, satellite, cable, this is where to talk about it.

So, It's OK Now?

Post by lastone »

It dawned on me today that the music I am hearing as I go thru the stores is not Muzak. At Dollar Generat it was WKEE. At Foodfair it was Sirus Country. At a local t-shirt printer, it was internet music.

Time was if you didn't pay, you didn't play to the public at all.

What has changed? :?: :!:

This is why Muzak went into Chapter 11--mostly folks using XM/Sirius to feed their background music systems. And no, most aren't paying (except for their monthly subscription to the bird).

Heard something while I was eating at a Golden Corral in Florida last week: ORIGINAL ARTIST RECORDING with the LEAD VOCAL REPLACED BY A GUITAR!

First one I heard was The Beatles original recording of "In My Life", but when I went to sing along with John I found myself singing along to a solo guitar playing the melody of the lyrics.

Next up was the original recording of Squeeze's "Tempted" and ditto, when it was time for Paul Carrack's vocal to come in, there was the guitar.

I thought I remembered this tactic from somewhere back in the early '90's, but had obviously forgotten about it...
