Looks like every Tom, Dick and Harry prefers country to Bob, Sam or Jack

Interesting they would choose country.

Doesn't 93.7, WTCR and 99.5 already reach most of their area of coverage with country?

And 105.7, 97.5, 96.1, etc. 101.5 is doing more "classic" country: 70s-early 90s.

Pity. Great signal. Wish I had it to play with.

Listened to their streaming for an hour, and I understand why they've made this choice. The country oldies they've chosen offers a much different choice than the other stations mentioned here, and I'd think they can easily find an audience, although it will likely be an upper aged demo. Their signal placement makes this an especially good choice.

I didn't hear any jocks, though (didn't hear morning drive). It's hard to have a really mass appeal when you don't offer local content, even when you make a good format choice.

This region needs another country station as badly as Obama needs more teleprompters.

None of the other stations mentioned in this post are the same format as this. Lumping them all together as "country" is like putting WKEE and Rock 105 together as "rock".

Fuckin' A. I can't predict a ratings number, but it's a good move in terms of cluster programming. You shave the top end off WTCR and WDGG which puts WMGA in a better position with national and regional buys.

They also beat LM and other clusters to the format.

No jocks and no content are a problem. This will mitigate the benefits of the switch and is likely to prevent real success.

Sorry, Mike. I tried to find a way to make this post about President Obama the way you do all of yours, but I couldn't figure out a way to do it.

I think the format will work better than what they have tried in the past. I like the idea of blending the older stuff with a very light mix of the new stuff. There just isn't enough Conway Twittey being played on the radio these days. :|

WKEE's format seems to consist of playing "music" consisting of fake autotune'd voices.

I can't stand crying cowboy music. This station used to be a favorite in the car on the way to work; now it's been deleted.

Yeah, I now can't even assemble a full slate of FM presets I'd listen to. Thank God for Sirius.

I'm not sure it matters what format they choose.

Now that I'm back in town I'll be re-doing my presets also.....101.5 is history.

Fuckin' A. I'm not saying KEE is poorly programmed. I'm saying that pop music has always been bad, now it is the worst it has ever been. Every song has autotuned vocals and the same fake drum beat.

As long as they get more new presets than they lose, that's not going to be much of a concern to them.
