Re: Verizon + iPhone = epic fail
As long as you discount the fact that the ViPhone is already the best selling phone in Verizon's history, and that lines didn't form due to Verizon's ability to manage pre-orders... that's pretty funny.

Or that they've already sold a million of the things.

Re: Verizon + iPhone = epic fail
Oh, I love it.
If this store would have realized that: a. the vast majority of sales were online. And b. the real lines won't be until July when iPhone 5 comes out, then maybe half of the staff could have slept in that morning... Real early adopter geeks won't stand in line for tech this old, esp when the next gen is right around the corner.
No matter how much Verizon rode the Android bandwagon, the fact is no single device they've ever had has come even close to iPhone sales. They were desperate to compete and really needed this device to hold disgruntled existing customers as well as give disgruntled ATT users another competitive option. But I can't help but wonder if they would have been better off waiting to launch the new iPhone simultaneously with ATT later this year...
Locally, Verizon pissed off a bunch of people trying to get the VeriPhone who found out that third party retailers won't be getting the phone right away. Verizon mostly relies on third party retailers within the state to sell their phones. The problem is they usually only get the older stuff while the new stuff is reserved for company-owned stores and online.
Just more proof that Verizon doesn't care about WV. They never have.
Anyway, I'll be glad when all of these crybabies "punish" ATT and go clog up Verizon's network for a change... More bandwidth for me.

Re: Verizon + iPhone = epic fail
I'm grandfathered into ATT's $30 unlimited data plan. I'm not about to give it up for anything.
Except for the new data caps, their network is still wide open as to what you do with it.
Apparently Verizon is already worried that their "most reliable network" will collapse under the weight of all of those new iPhones.
How long before the speed and connection complaints start rolling in?

Re: Verizon + iPhone = epic fail
I am also grandfathered into ATT's unlimited data plan, and I agree that giving it up would be crazy. As far as I know you can't buy that plan for any amount of money anymore. Is Verizon offering such a plan? I wouldn't switch anyway. I have no problems with my ATT service, and since I got my iphone 4 I never drop calls. ATT seems to be a victim of the old "If everybody keeps saying it, it must be true" logic. Here in the Maryland/DC area they are fantastic. ATT also has some of the best customer service I have ever dealt with, as well as lack of those "mystery charges" that always appeared on my bill with Sprint. I can also drive I70 to I68 through the western MD mountains then down I79 to Charleston without ever losing service...not too shabby for a company that supposedly has no coverage.

I take pictures with my camera.
I surf the web on a computer.
TracFone. $15.00 a month. Five bars EVERYWHERE.
My employers and I are already weaned to the point that when NONE of it works, it won't affect me or my job...

In most areas, this is true. But not here in the Land Of the Lost.Dave Harman wrote:Geez, maybe you guys could praise / condemn Chevy vs Ford next.
Look at Verizon's vs. ATT's coverage map for WV. It's really no contest.
While ATT continues to rapidly expand their voice and 3G networks throughout the state, Verizon has not expanded at all in the 2 1/2 years they've been in WV. Nor do they show any desire to do so anytime soon, except for immediate downtown Charleston getting 4G.
And no, ATT stopped offering unlimited data plans last June, but allowed existing customers to keep it if they wanted to. Verizon still has "unlimited", but they supposedly give you a hard time if you use more than 5 GB per month. ATT's was truly unlimited.
